Lester Crest
First half of the Bureau Raid. Michael and Trevor swap out a fire engine, stage a high-rise fire emergency, and infiltrate the FIB tower disguised as firefighters.
Cleaning out the Bureau is a mission in given to protagonist Michael De Santa by FIB agent Dave Norton, although it appears under Lester Crest's list of missions. It is the first part of the fifth heist mission.
Michael arrives at Darnell Bros. garment factory, where he catches up with Lester, who explains that their plans to rob the Union Depository are postponed until further notice, since there is no way they can pull off the bank heist without Trevor's help. Michael replies that he is fortunate to have survived the Triads' captivity, but he has to lay low for now, as Trevor's animosity towards him has created friction within the group. Soon, the duo are briefed by FIB agents Dave Norton and Steve Haines, who explain that evidence regarding Haines's illegal activity is starting to surface at the FIB as his detention at the hands of IAA has exposed him; he enlists Michael to destroy that incriminating evidence , but the only way to do so is by breaking into the FIB Headquarters. Haines promises that if Michael performs this favor, he will personally delete Michael's FIB files. Michael demands Haines to let him go after the task is complete, and that this is the last job he will perform for him. Haines blithely agrees as he and Norton leave.
Michael and Lester drive to the FIB Headquarters. On the way, Lester lays out his plan. They will gain entrance to the building by assuming the identity of one of the building's janitors. Lester even has the man picked out, one Harvey Molina. Michael and Lester arrive at the exit of the Headquarters' parking garage, where they observe several cars exiting the parking lot. As they wait for Molina, Michael discusses his plight with Lester, who warns Michael that the FIB will not free him that easily, even if he completes this task. Michael asks Lester for advice on an exit strategy. Lester suggests that Michael can try to quickly delete his own files in the midst of the heist. When Molina leaves the garage, the two follow him to his apartment on Las Lagunas Boulevard in West Vinewood. Michael follows Molina into his apartment, where he obtains Molina's ID and overalls. Molina agrees and Michael leaves.
Michael and Lester return to Darnell Bros. where Franklin is waiting. In addition to Molina's ID and overalls, Lester also needs to obtain a physical paper copy of the architectural blueprints for the FIB Headquarters. These are in the possession of Chip Peterson, the building's designer, who has an office in Backlot City. Franklin agrees to tail Peterson to get the plans. Their business, for the moment, concluded, the mission ends.
