The first generation Cavalcade is largely based on the second-generation Cadillac Escalade (GMT826), while portraying traits reminiscent of that of the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. However, the B-pillar is black as opposed to body colored, and it features an angular body design closer to the first-generation Escalade (GMT435) and GMC Yukon Denali of the same generation (GMT430). The tail lights are based on the ninth-generation Ford F-Series.
In Grand Theft Auto V, the wheels feature thinner spokes that more closely resemble the wheels from the third-generation GMT900 series Escalade.
