In GTA San Andreas, the Dozer's overall design is similar to that of a 1970–1995 Caterpillar 834B wheel dozer, but utilizing an overhead guard as opposed to an enclosed cab, similar to 1960s dozers such as the Caterpillar 824B.
In GTA V, the Dozer's design resembles that of a Caterpillar 983B, with heavy influence from the Caterpillar D9H, especially on the rear, as well as on the side vent's shape. The side profile, especially the cab shape and extended overhangs, is similar to the Liebherr PR721. Some of the elements may have been sourced from the 1970s and 1980s Fiat-Allis dozers, such as the Fiat-Allis 21C.
The equipment on the Dozer is derived from much newer models. The rear ripper setup, and some of the rear elements, are similar to that found on the Caterpillar D9T, while the hydraulics are modeled after those found on the Caterpillar 973.
