The Asterope is a general impression of the XV40 Toyota Camry/Aurion, with major influence from the 1998–2000 Lexus IS/Toyota Altezza, such as the rear fascia and side profile, roofline, greenhouse area, and some character lines, with some additional elements deriving from the preceding XV30 generation mixed in as well. The front of the car is heavily inspired by the second-generation Chevrolet Cobalt. The tail lights parallel a similar shape and light layout to the Daewoo Tosca/Chevrolet Epica, however, with featuring the "Lexus-style" clear light design and turn signals from the IS/Altezza.
