The November 19, 2026 date was confirmed in early May 2026, after a second delay from the original "Fall 2025" launch window. Take-Two Interactive framed the additional months as the time required "to finish the game with the level of polish that fans rightly expect."
A Thursday launch is unusual for the franchise — GTA V shipped on a Tuesday in September 2013, GTA IV on a Tuesday in April 2008. The Thursday-night release window is designed to maximize launch-weekend coverage with a midnight street-date pickup before Friday's news cycle reshuffles.
