The Barracks OL is evidently based on the M939 "5 ton" truck, namely the M923A1 Cargo version, albeit featuring an extra set of lights beside the grille, which may have been inspired by the CCC M920 MET.
The Barracks in GTA V and GTA Online assumes a more modern design that incorporates elements from older military cargo trucks. Its appearance is reminiscent of a blend between the Oshkosh MTVR and the Freightliner M915A5, particularly evident in the front fascia, bullbar, and side mirrors. The grille structure, greenhouse area, and roofline, which includes a distinctive sun visor, appear to draw inspiration from the Oshkosh M1070. Additionally, the front fenders and headlights may reflect influences from the Mack M915 LHRT concept truck. The front bumper, side skirts, and rear mud flaps seem to be derived from the older M939 "5 ton" truck, while the cargo area appears to be inspired by either the M939 or the REO M35.
