GTA Online Acid Lab Guide: The Best Solo Business
GTA Online Acid Lab guide: unlock it through the First Dose missions, run production and resupply, install the upgrade, and sell for the best solo profit.

The GTA Online Acid Lab is widely considered the best solo business in the game, and for good reason. It costs far less to set up than a Bunker or a Nightclub, it travels with you inside a mobile truck, and every sell mission can be finished alone in under 15 minutes. This guide walks through how to unlock the Acid Lab, run production and resupply, install the upgrade, and turn it into one of the most reliable solo earners in GTA Online.
How to Unlock the Acid Lab
The Acid Lab is unlocked by completing the First Dose missions, a six-part storyline added in the Los Santos Drug Wars update that launched on December 13, 2022. To start, log into GTA Online and you will receive a call from Ron Jakowski. Head to him at Liquor Ace in Sandy Shores, marked with a yellow "R" on the map, and begin the opening mission, "Welcome to the Troupe."
That first job introduces you to Dax and the Freakshop, the run-down hideout that becomes your base of operations. Work through all six First Dose missions in order. The final mission, "Off the Rails," has you steal a Brickade 6x6 from a crash site and drive it back to the Freakshop. Once delivered, the truck becomes the home of your Acid Lab.
Setting Up the Lab
With the Brickade 6x6 parked at the Freakshop, speak to Mutt near the truck to install the lab equipment. The setup fee is GTA$750,000. If you subscribe to GTA+, the installation is free, which is one of the better perks tied to that membership.
That single payment converts the truck into a fully mobile drug lab. Unlike the Bunker, MC businesses, or other operations, you do not need to buy a separate property. The Brickade itself is the business, and you can call it in almost anywhere on the map. For more ways to get around Los Santos, check our GTA Online cheats reference.
Production and Resupply
The Acid Lab works on the same supplies-to-product loop as other passive businesses. You provide supplies, the lab converts them into acid over time, and you sell the finished product. There are two ways to keep it stocked:
- Buy supplies from Mutt. Filling the supply bar costs GTA$600 per unit, up to a maximum of GTA$60,000 for a completely empty bar (100 units). If the bar is partly stocked, you pay less for the top-up.
- Steal supplies for free through resupply missions, where each mission fills the bar by a section, trading time for money if you would rather not pay.
A full bank of supplies takes time to convert into sellable acid, so the lab runs best when you let it tick away in the background while you do other activities. You can also interact with a chemistry table inside the lab once per in-game day to nudge production along.
The Equipment Upgrade
The single most important investment is the Equipment Upgrade, which costs GTA$250,000. It is not available right away. To unlock the option, you must complete 10 Fooligan Jobs, the short freeroam tasks you request by calling Dax. Each Fooligan Job pays GTA$50,000, and there is a 48-minute cooldown between jobs, so spacing them across play sessions is the natural way to grind them out.
Once installed, the upgrade does two things. It speeds up production, and it raises the value of your stock. A full supply of acid sells for GTA$237,500 without the upgrade and jumps to GTA$335,200 with it. That is nearly a GTA$100,000 increase per full sell, which means the upgrade pays for itself in roughly three full cycles. Grinding the 10 Fooligan Jobs and paying for the upgrade should be your first priority after the lab is running.
Selling Acid for the Best Profit
You can launch a sell mission once the lab has produced enough stock. Every Acid Lab sale can be completed solo, and the delivery vehicles are easy to handle, so you are never forced into a four-player setup the way some larger businesses push you toward.
To squeeze out the most money, sell in a public lobby. Selling a full stock of acid in a populated public session triggers a high-demand bonus that can push a single sale up to around GTA$500,000. Selling in an invite-only or solo session is safer from griefers but skips that bonus, so weigh the risk against the reward based on how busy your lobby is.
Why the Acid Lab Is the Best Solo Business
A few things stack up to make the Acid Lab the standout solo earner:
- Low barrier to entry. A one-time GTA$750,000 setup, or free with GTA+, undercuts almost every other money-making business in the game.
- No property required. The lab lives inside the Brickade 6x6, so there is no extra building to buy or warehouse to manage.
- Fast, solo-friendly sales. Sell missions take less than 15 minutes and never require a second player.
- Strong return on investment. After the GTA$250,000 upgrade, a full sell lands at GTA$335,200, climbing toward GTA$500,000 with the public-lobby bonus.
Set it up, grind the Fooligan Jobs for the upgrade, keep it resupplied, and the Acid Lab quietly becomes one of the most efficient passive incomes a solo player can run. If you want to see the locations involved, browse our GTA Online screenshots.
