GTA Online Meth Lab Guide: Setup, Profit & ROI
GTA Online meth lab guide covering setup cost, the four lab locations, supply cycles, production, sell missions, upgrade ROI and where meth ranks among MC businesses.

The GTA Online meth lab is one of the five Motorcycle Club (MC) businesses, and it sits near the top of the pack for passive biker income. The methamphetamine business runs the same supply-then-sell loop as the other MC properties: you feed it supplies, it cooks product over time, and you cash out with a sell mission. This guide breaks down setup costs, supply cycles, production, the sell missions, upgrade ROI, and exactly where MC meth ranks against the other clubhouse businesses.
What you need before buying a meth lab
You cannot run any MC business without first owning a Clubhouse, which you buy from the Maze Bank Foreclosures site. The cheapest clubhouse runs $200,000. Once you own one, you register as MC President and purchase the meth lab from the same Foreclosures menu. If you are still building your starter empire, our GTA Online hub collects the rest of the money-making properties worth owning.
Meth lab locations and setup cost
There are four methamphetamine lab locations, and they are mechanically identical. Production speed, product value, and payouts are the same everywhere. The only real differences are the purchase price and how close the property sits to sell-mission drop-offs.
- Grand Senora Desert: $910,000 (cheapest, rural and ideal for quiet invite-only selling)
- Paleto Bay: $1,024,800
- Terminal: $1,365,000
- El Burro Heights: $1,729,000 (most expensive, but central)
For most players the Grand Senora Desert lab at $910,000 is the smart buy. You save money and the rural surroundings make solo sells far less risky than a downtown drop.
Supply cycles and production
The meth lab turns supplies into product. You get supplies two ways:
- Buy supplies for $15,000 per unit, up to a maximum of $75,000 for a single full resupply.
- Steal supplies for free by running source missions out of the laptop in your lab.
One $75,000 resupply does not top the lab off from empty. Filling a meth lab to a full stock takes about $187,500 of supplies (roughly two and a half full resupplies). Running on full upgrades, a fully stocked batch takes roughly six hours of in-game time to cook. The longer you let it run before selling, the more your stockpile is worth, so the loop is simple: keep supplies topped up, leave the game running, and sell when product hits maximum. Buying supplies costs you money but no effort. Stealing them saves the cash but eats setup-mission time, which is why most grinders just pay for supplies and treat the business as passive.
Upgrades and ROI
Two upgrades drive the economics, plus an optional defensive one:
- Equipment Upgrade: $1,100,000 (speeds up production, boosts product value, makes supplies last longer)
- Staff Upgrade: $331,500 (speeds up production and raises product value)
- Security Upgrade: $513,000 (reduces the chance of raids on your stock)
The Equipment and Staff upgrades are mandatory if you care about profit. Together they roughly double output and push the value of a full stock from a mediocre return to a strong one. The Security upgrade is optional: it only matters if you regularly leave large stockpiles sitting in a public lobby. A fully upgraded Grand Senora Desert lab (property plus both core upgrades) totals about $2,341,500 before you factor in supplies.
A full stock sold from a fully upgraded lab in a private session is worth around $446,250. After subtracting the roughly $187,500 it costs to fill that stock with bought supplies, you keep about $258,750 in profit per six-hour cycle. At that rate you make your full setup investment back inside about 55 hours of playtime, then everything after is gravy.
Meth sell missions
Once product is built up, you launch a sell mission from the laptop. Sell missions task you with delivering product across the map, often in MC-themed vehicles, before a timer runs out. Selling a larger stock can split the delivery across multiple vehicles, which is dangerous solo in a public lobby because rival players (and the timer) can wipe your whole haul. Two tips keep your money safe:
- Sell in an invite-only or solo public session so no griefers can blow up your product.
- Don't let your stock grow so large that the delivery splits into more vehicles than you can shepherd alone.
The remote Grand Senora Desert location keeps most sell routes rural, which is another reason it is the recommended lab. If you want screenshots of the lab interiors and biker properties, browse the GTA Online screenshots gallery.
Where meth ranks among MC businesses
Across the five MC businesses (cocaine, meth, counterfeit cash, weed, and document forgery), meth ranks second only to cocaine in profitability. The rough pecking order:
- Cocaine Lockup (highest profit per cycle, and the most valuable feed for a Nightclub)
- Methamphetamine Lab (roughly $258,750 profit per full six-hour cycle)
- Counterfeit Cash Factory (solid mid-tier)
- Weed Farm (slow break-even)
- Document Forgery Office (lowest payouts, longest break-even, generally skippable)
The standard advice is to buy cocaine and meth together, fully upgrade both, and run them as a passive layer underneath an active grind. Treated that way, the meth lab is one of the most reliable money printers a biker empire can own. For shortcuts and console codes that work alongside your grind, see our GTA Online cheats page.
