GTA Online Salvage Yard Guide: The Robberies Explained
GTA Online Salvage Yard guide covering the three weekly robberies, tow-truck income, payouts, and the Cluckin Bell Farm Raid connection from The Chop Shop.

The GTA Online Salvage Yard is the property at the heart of The Chop Shop update, and the salvage yard robberies are where the real money lives. Every week you get three jobs to plan and pull off, plus a steady tow-truck income running in the background. This guide breaks down the robbery types, the payouts, and how the salvage yard ties into the Cluckin Bell Farm Raid.
What the GTA Online Salvage Yard is
The Salvage Yard arrived with The Chop Shop update (1.68) on December 12, 2023. It is a property business: you buy a scrap lot, then either run it as a passive earner or use it as the base for high-value vehicle heists called salvage yard robberies.
There are five locations to choose from, and the price scales with how central they sit:
- Paleto Bay - $1,620,000 (cheapest)
- Sandy Shores - $2,030,000
- Murrieta Heights - $2,420,000
- Strawberry - $2,570,000
- La Puerta - $2,690,000
Strawberry and La Puerta sit closest to central Los Santos, which cuts your travel time during robbery setups. Paleto Bay is the budget pick and happens to share a postcode with the Cluckin Bell Farm Raid, more on that below. You can browse the rest of the property catalog from the GTA Online hub.
The three weekly salvage yard robberies
There are five robbery types in total, and the game rotates three of them into your salvage yard each week. Each one targets a specific high-value vehicle:
- The Duggan Robbery - lift a car from a Maze Bank Arena show hosted by the Duggan crime family
- The Gangbanger Robbery - break gang figure King Tiny out to get intel on a prized car
- The Cargo Ship Robbery - steal a vehicle container off a guarded cargo ship out at sea
- The Podium Robbery - swipe a car straight from the Diamond Casino & Resort
- The McTony Robbery - take a vehicle from Tony McTony aboard his RUNE Kosatka submarine
Each robbery follows the same rhythm. You start with a scope-out to gather intel, then a set of planning work missions opens up (one is optional). After that you run a handful of robbery tasks in free mode, and finally the finale where you grab the target car and deliver it to your salvage yard.
Salvage yard robbery payouts
Payouts vary by which car you are stealing, but the sale value lands in roughly the $250,000 to $400,000 range per robbery. Selling the vehicle "clean" (untraceable, the full-value option) nets the top figure, while a "dirty" sale pays around 80 percent of that.
Every robbery also carries bonus challenges worth $50,000 total, paid out as smaller milestones for completing specific objectives during the job. Hitting those on top of a clean sale is how you push a single robbery toward its ceiling.
Because three robberies cycle in per week, a focused player can clear close to a million in robbery income weekly before touching anything else.
Tow-truck income and passive earnings
The tow truck is the salvage yard's everyday earner. After you buy the Tow Truck upgrade ($1,100,000, or $650,000 for the Tow Truck Beater), you can take on tow missions: drive out, hook a flagged vehicle, and haul it back to the lot to be stripped for parts.
Each towed vehicle is worth roughly $30,000 to $40,000 once processed. Running tow work also temporarily boosts the rate your salvage yard generates passive income, and completing tow jobs can stack that passive earning up toward a daily ceiling around $24,000. Hiring the Staff upgrade ($625,000) speeds up how fast salvaged parts turn into cash.
Other upgrades worth knowing:
- Wall Safe ($750,000) - raises your on-site cash storage cap to $250,000
- Trade Rates ($450,000) - cuts Mors Mutual and Los Santos Customs repair costs

The Cluckin Bell Farm Raid connection
The Salvage Yard and the Cluckin Bell Farm Raid are siblings from the same content cycle. The raid was added as a continuation of The Chop Shop update on March 7, 2024, and it plays out at the Cluckin Bell Farms processing plant on the Great Ocean Highway in Paleto Bay, the same town as the cheapest salvage yard.
You do not need to own a salvage yard to start the raid. Instead, you wait in free mode for a phone call from Vincent Effenburger, the former Diamond Casino security chief now working with the LSPD, who pulls you into disrupting a cartel drug operation. The raid runs as a small heist of six missions (an intro job, four setups, and a finale) for one to four players.
The finale pays the leader $500,000, with supporting associates earning $50,000 each. Between the raid, the weekly robberies, and steady tow work, the salvage yard property tree is one of the better money loops Rockstar has shipped for GTA Online.
