The Assault Rifle is, as the name implies, an assault rifle appearing in , , , and . It is manufactured by Shrewsbury in GTA V and GTA Online.
The weapon is an evolution of the AK appearing in the . Like the AK, in all of its appearances, the Assault Rifle is designed after the real-world or one of its many variants.
The rendition is mostly an accurate representation of the AK-47 in size and look, although some pins on the receiver are depicted at the wrong place, the fire selector is on safe, and the bolt carrier group is missing a handle. Since its appearance in the , it is named Assault Rifle.
The rendition appears to be a regular AK-47. The upper handguard of the weapon has been removed, revealing the gas tube. These details are shown when it is found in a Dustbin.
The rendition is based on the , a Chinese version of the AK-47 fitted with a side-folding stock. However, it is depicted with a gas block similar to that of the and the .
It no longer features wooden detailing, and is fitted with Picatinny rails for attachments.
As part of the Further Adventures in Finance and Felony update, there is a unique Drum Magazine option that resembles 75-round AK magazines (although 100-round drum mags exist as well, which are more cylindrical).
