GTA 5 Caida Libre: Downing the Plane in Exactly Three Shots, and All Three Gold Medals
Caida Libre asks you to shoot a plane out of the sky with only three rockets, then chase the wreck down Mount Chiliad on a Sanchez without falling off. Here is how to clear every Gold Medal objective, including the one that punishes panic.

Caida Libre is two very different missions stapled together. First you shoot a plane out of the sky, then you ride a Sanchez down a mountain chasing the wreckage. Its Gold Medal tests both halves, and the shooting half is unusually strict.
The three Gold Medal objectives
- One Two Three. Shoot down the plane using only three shots.
- Floor It. Reach top speed on the Sanchez.
- Glued to the Seat. Do not fall off the Sanchez during the chase.
One Two Three: three rockets, no more
This is the objective that sends people back to the mission select screen. You have a rocket launcher and a plane, and Gold requires the kill in three shots. There is no partial credit.
The mistake is firing early. At long range the plane has time to move out of the rocket's path and you have burned a shot on nothing. Let it get closer and lead it properly. Rockets travel fast but not instantly, so aim where the plane is going rather than where it is, and take a breath between shots instead of panic-firing a third rocket the moment the second one misses.
If your first two shots both miss, accept the run is lost for this objective, finish the mission, and replay for it.
Floor It and Glued to the Seat pull against each other
Here is the tension in the second half. Floor It wants you flat out on the Sanchez. Glued to the Seat wants you never to come off it. Going full throttle down a mountain is exactly how you get thrown over the handlebars.
The way to have both is to pick your moment. Take the top-speed tick on a clean, open stretch where nothing is going to stop the bike, then ease off through the rocky, technical sections where a rock or a tree will launch you. Top speed only has to happen once. Staying on the bike has to happen the entire way down.
Also worth knowing: coming off the bike is usually caused by terrain, not speed as such. Keep the front wheel down on landings and avoid taking drops at bad angles.
Split it across replays if you need to
Standard GTA 5 rule and it applies cleanly here: Gold Medal objectives carry across replays. Caida Libre is a good candidate for splitting, because the three-shot requirement and the bike requirements have nothing to do with each other. Do one run where you care only about the rockets, and another where you ride conservatively for Glued to the Seat and grab top speed on one safe straight.
The bottom line
Let the plane close before you fire, lead your rockets, and do not panic-spend the third. On the mountain, take top speed once on open ground and ride the technical sections like you want to arrive.
