GTA 6 Preload Starts November 10 — Time to Make Some Room
Rockstar has confirmed the digital preload schedule for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with up to 212 GB of free space needed. Here’s what to check before Tuesday.

That game you haven’t opened in six months might be about to lose its spot on your console. GTA VI’s digital preload begins on November 10, and Rockstar says you’ll need up to 212 GB of free space, depending on your device.
The details come from Rockstar’s November 3 announcement. The game itself is still due on November 19; downloading it beforehand gives you a head start on the installation, not early access to the story.
When can you start downloading?
The two consoles use slightly different clocks:
- PS5: midnight in your local time zone on Tuesday, November 10.
- Xbox Series X|S: one worldwide start, at 00:00 GMT on November 10.
For players in the UK, those times line up at midnight. Elsewhere, check the Xbox time against your own time zone rather than assuming both platforms open together.
If you’ve seen November 12 in an older guide, use this newer digital-preload schedule. Rockstar’s announcement separately says code-in-box copies should be available from retailers on November 12, so check with your shop if that’s how you’ve ordered.
A quick check now could save a wait later
Open your console’s storage screen before preload day. The 212 GB figure is an upper limit in Rockstar’s guidance, not a confirmed identical download size for every machine. There’s no need to guess separate PS5 and Xbox numbers from it.
It’s also worth checking that automatic downloads are actually switched on. According to Rockstar’s preload FAQ, PS5 needs auto-downloads enabled and the console on or in Rest Mode. Xbox needs automatic updates enabled and the console on or in Sleep mode.
Once the download window opens, take a look at the queue rather than assuming everything started overnight. A little housekeeping now is less annoying than discovering a full drive when you were expecting a finished download.
