GTA 6 Racing: Circuits, Motocross, and Underground Nitro Runs
Racing in GTA 6 looks like a proper motorsport suite rather than a side mission. Closed-circuit races with real timing screens, motocross on dirt, and underground street runs with nitro have all been shown. Here is what is confirmed.

Racing has always been a GTA staple, but in GTA 6 it looks like an actual motorsport suite rather than a checkbox. The Extended Look and Rockstar's follow-up details point to structured circuit racing, dirt-bike motocross, and underground street runs, each with its own flavor. Here is what has been shown.
Proper circuit racing, with a real race interface
The headline is that GTA 6 features structured circuit racing on closed asphalt courses, not just a track used as scenery for a mission. Cars compete wheel to wheel, and the racing interface shown includes your current position, lap information, lap times, and rival cars on the minimap.
That last part matters more than it sounds. Lap timing and position tracking are the plumbing of a real racing mode, and their presence suggests Rockstar is treating racing as a genuine progression track rather than a one-off diversion.
Motocross and off-road
The activity montage also showed motocross, swapping asphalt for dirt, jumps, and the kind of unpredictable crashes that come with two wheels and loose ground. Off-road racing more broadly fits Leonida's geography perfectly, with swamps, farmland, and the trails around Mount Kalaga National Park offering terrain that a Vice City street circuit never could.

Underground street racing with nitro
The third pillar is the illegal one. Underground races feature modified cars and nitrous-fuelled speed, which is the natural home for GTA 6's deeper vehicle upgrades. Given Rockstar has confirmed that upgrades change performance rather than just looks, a street-racing scene built on modified cars suddenly has real mechanical depth behind it.
Why racing hits different this time
All of this rests on the handling overhaul. Rockstar has confirmed real racing drivers helped tune GTA 6's vehicle model, and the cars carry noticeably more weight than GTA 5's. Racing is only as good as the driving underneath it, and that is the part Rockstar has invested in hardest.
The bottom line
Circuit racing with genuine lap timing, motocross on dirt, and nitro-fed underground runs give GTA 6 three distinct racing scenes rather than one generic playlist, all riding on the most serious handling model Rockstar has built.
