GTA 6's Summer Reveal Window: When Trailer 3, Preorders, and the Price Actually Land
Take-Two has all but confirmed that GTA 6's marketing, preorders, and price reveal arrive together this summer, most likely from late June. Here is exactly what Strauss Zelnick said, what lands when, and why Rockstar is waiting.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 locked to November 19, 2026 and no new delay in sight, the entire pre-launch picture now hinges on one thing: Rockstar's marketing campaign, which Take-Two has all but said begins this summer. Trailer 3, preorders, and the price reveal are widely expected to arrive together in that push. Here is what has actually been confirmed, what lands when, and why Rockstar is holding back.
What Zelnick actually said
On Take-Two's May 21 earnings call and in follow-up interviews with Variety and Bloomberg, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that "when it's summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6." Pressed on timing, he noted that summer technically begins at the end of June, which points to a late-June start at the earliest. He also said preorders typically open alongside marketing, which puts them in the same window.
That matters more than it sounds, because Zelnick is famously tight-lipped and media-trained to never get ahead of Rockstar's marketing plan. For him to volunteer a season at all is about as much of a timing signal as Take-Two ever gives.
The three things that land together
History and Zelnick's own framing suggest the summer push is a single coordinated moment, not three separate ones. Expect these to drop together, or within days of each other:
Trailer 3. The third trailer has not appeared yet, and the Rockstar Newswire has been conspicuously quiet, which usually precedes a big reveal rather than following one. It is the natural centerpiece of the campaign launch.
Preorders. Zelnick tied preorder availability directly to the start of marketing. When the campaign opens, the storefronts open. (And to be clear: the Best Buy preorder rumors that circulated earlier were debunked. Nothing is live yet.)
The price. Rockstar has never named a number, and the price reveal almost always rides along with preorders. When you can preorder, you will finally know the cost.
Why Rockstar is waiting
A five-month marketing runway is short by blockbuster standards, and that is deliberate. Rockstar's strategy is scarcity: a tight, intense campaign close to launch keeps hype at a peak through release rather than burning it off months early. Zelnick also signaled the campaign will be "very significant" and built to reflect where audiences and attention are today, a pointed contrast with GTA V's more traditional 2013 rollout. In other words, expect a modern, creator-and-social-led blitz rather than a slow drip.
What to expect when it drops
When the summer reveal lands, here is the likely shape of it:
A price in the standard AAA range. Zelnick has previously signaled roughly $70 to $80 for the base game, with premium tiers above that. Our pricing FAQ tracks the latest.
Preorder bonuses and edition tiers (standard, deluxe, and likely a collector's edition), following Rockstar's pattern with Red Dead Redemption 2. Our preorder FAQ will update the moment they open.
A confirmed physical release alongside digital, which Zelnick has reiterated.
The one thing not to do is chase a preorder link before the official Rockstar Newswire post. Until then, anything claiming to take your money is not real.
The timeline, as it stands today
Now (late May): date locked at November 19, no marketing live, Newswire quiet.
Late June to July: the expected window for marketing to begin, bringing Trailer 3, preorders, and the price together.
November 19, 2026: launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with PC to follow at an unannounced later date.
Take-Two is betting the house on it. The company has guided fiscal 2027 net bookings to $8.0 to $8.2 billion, with Zelnick calling for "new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch." A company forecasting numbers like that does not leave its biggest release under-marketed. The quiet now is the calm before a very loud summer.
