Will GTA 6 Be on Xbox Game Pass? What to Expect
Will GTA 6 be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? Rockstar has not announced any subscription deal, and Take-Two's history points to full price first.

Will GTA 6 be on Xbox Game Pass? There is no official answer yet: Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not announced any GTA 6 Game Pass deal, so anyone telling you it is confirmed either way is guessing. Based on Take-Two's track record, GTA 6 launching day-one on Xbox Game Pass is unlikely, but the company has never ruled out adding the game to a subscription service later.
What's confirmed about GTA 6
The only hard facts come from Rockstar's official Newswire and Take-Two's earnings reports:
- GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026.
- It will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch.
- A PC version has not been dated by Rockstar.
What is not confirmed: any pricing, edition tiers, or whether GTA 6 will appear on Xbox Game Pass, PS Plus, or any other subscription service. Rockstar has said nothing about a Game Pass release. Treat everything below as expectation, not fact.
Will GTA 6 be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? (expectation)
A day-one GTA 6 Game Pass launch is considered unlikely, and that read comes straight from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. In June 2022, he said that putting new releases into a subscription service on day one "doesn't make any sense to us because, economically speaking, we don't think consumers are prepared to pay for that."
The logic is simple. GTA 6 is expected to be one of the best-selling entertainment products ever. Trading millions of full-price sales for a subscription payout would be a hard economic case to make, and Zelnick has repeatedly framed Take-Two's choices as "rational." So while nothing is official, the expectation across the industry is that GTA 6 ships at full price first, not on Game Pass.

Take-Two's subscription history (the pattern)
Take-Two is not anti-subscription. Zelnick has also said the company has "supported various subscription services and we're happy to do so." The pattern is about timing, not refusal:
- The Outer Worlds (a Take-Two-published title via Private Division) arrived on Game Pass at launch in October 2019.
- GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launched at full price in November 2021 and only reached a subscription service (Netflix mobile) more than two years later, in December 2023.
- GTA 5 has cycled on and off Xbox Game Pass repeatedly. It was added on April 15, 2025 and left on April 15, 2026, and before that it ran from July 2023 to January 2024.
That cycling is the key signal. Rockstar tends to let a game sell at full price, then rotate it through subscription services later to win back lapsed players. Applied to GTA 6, the likely (not confirmed) path is full-price sales for a long stretch, with a possible Game Pass appearance much further down the line.
Could GTA 6 still come to Game Pass eventually?
Yes, and that is the realistic version of "GTA 6 on Game Pass." History shows Take-Two is willing to put titles on a subscription service when, in Zelnick's words, "it was a good economic deal." GTA 5's repeated Game Pass stints prove the door stays open for years after release.
So if you are searching for a GTA 6 subscription option, the honest answer is: not at launch, most likely, and not confirmed at all. If you want to play on day one, plan to buy it for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Keep an eye on the GTA 6 screenshots and our coverage for any official word from Rockstar.
