Rockstar Just Made GTA Roleplay Official: nopixel V Enters Closed Beta September 8
After nearly a year of silence, Rockstar and NoPixel have revealed nopixel V, an official, Rockstar-backed GTA V roleplay experience heading to the Rockstar Games Launcher. A closed, invite-only beta begins September 8. Here is what was announced.

Rockstar and NoPixel have revealed nopixel V, an officially sanctioned, Rockstar-backed evolution of the most famous GTA RP server in the world, and it is heading to the Rockstar Games Launcher.
What was announced
Rockstar describes nopixel V as the next evolution of the GTA V roleplay experience, created in collaboration with Rockstar Games, and coming to the Rockstar Games Launcher and other PC platforms. Rockstar has said it is excited to support nopixel as "the future of GTA RP."
That phrasing is the story. This is not Rockstar tolerating a mod scene, it is Rockstar publishing one.
The closed beta starts September 8
The rollout begins with a closed, invite-only beta on September 8, 2026. Reporting on the announcement says roughly 439 invited players will get in first, with visibility limited to streamers, so most people will experience the opening days by watching rather than playing.
The reveal landed on September 1 after nearly a year of near-total quiet from both sides, with NoPixel founder Koil dropping occasional Discord updates while Rockstar said almost nothing publicly. The project has reportedly been in development for close to three years.
Why this is a genuinely big deal
GTA RP turned Twitch upside down. At its peak, NoPixel's cast of characters pulled numbers that rivaled major game launches, and it kept GTA V culturally relevant years after release. But it always ran on community infrastructure, with all the instability, legal ambiguity, and server drama that came with it.
An official version changes the foundation. Distribution through the Rockstar Games Launcher means legitimacy, stability, and a direct line to the people who make the game. It also means Rockstar now has a supported roleplay product in its catalogue for the first time.

This did not come from nowhere. Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, back in August 2023, and has been steadily bringing the roleplay ecosystem in house ever since.
