Will GTA 6 Be at Tonight's State of Play? Here's What Sony Actually Confirmed
Sony's State of Play airs tonight, June 2, and the internet wants to know if GTA 6 will show up. Here is exactly what Sony has confirmed for the lineup, why GTA 6 almost certainly is not on it, and what Take-Two's own words tell us.

Sony's next State of Play airs tonight, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and predictably, the question flooding search and social is: will Grand Theft Auto 6 be there? Here is the honest, officially-sourced answer, the full confirmed lineup, and why the smart expectation is no.
The short answer
Almost certainly not. GTA 6 is not on Sony's confirmed lineup, Rockstar has announced no appearance, and Take-Two's own CEO has effectively ruled out an early-June reveal. Nothing is impossible, but every official signal points away from a GTA 6 moment tonight. Set expectations accordingly so you are not disappointed at 5pm ET.
What Sony has actually confirmed for tonight
Per the PlayStation Blog, here is the verified information:
- When: Tuesday, June 2, at 2:00pm PT / 5:00pm ET / 11:00pm CEST (June 3, 6:00am JST).
- Length: more than 60 minutes.
- Where: YouTube and Twitch.
- Confirmed headliner: Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games kicks off the show with a deeper gameplay look. It launches on PS5 on September 15.
That is the only game Sony has officially named. Everything else on the rundown is unannounced, which is normal for a State of Play, but it means no GTA 6 has been confirmed by Sony. Reports of Naughty Dog's Intergalactic, God of War projects and various third-party titles are speculation, not confirmations.
Why GTA 6 almost certainly is not appearing
Three independent reasons, all officially grounded:
1. Take-Two said marketing has not started yet. On the May 21 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick said Rockstar will begin marketing GTA 6 only "when it's summertime," and clarified that means the end of June or early July. He specifically said the weeks immediately after the call would not yet be "summertime." June 2 falls inside that pre-marketing quiet window, which is the clearest possible signal that a GTA 6 beat is not imminent.
2. Rockstar does its own reveals. Rockstar has a long, consistent habit of unveiling GTA material through its own standalone Newswire drops, not third-party publisher showcases. The two GTA 6 trailers to date both came as solo Rockstar events. A surprise GTA 6 reveal slotted into a Sony broadcast would break that pattern.
3. Sony did not tease it. When platform holders have a marquee third-party moment, they usually hint at it to drive viewership. Sony's promotion for tonight leads with Marvel's Wolverine, with no GTA-shaped tease anywhere in the official materials.
What would have to be true for a surprise
To be fair to the optimists: it is not physically impossible. Rockstar could, in theory, choose a high-profile platform stage to open its summer campaign a few weeks early. But that would require Rockstar to (a) start marketing before its stated summer window, (b) abandon its standalone-reveal habit, and (c) do so without any tease. Three pattern-breaks at once is a long shot, not a base case.
When the real GTA 6 moment is coming
If you want the reveal that actually matters, the window to watch is late June into early July, when Zelnick said marketing begins. That summer push is widely expected to bring the third trailer, preorders and the price together. We break down that timeline in our summer reveal explainer, and we track only Rockstar-confirmed facts on the Launch Desk.
The honest read
Tonight is a Sony show headlined by Marvel's Wolverine, and it is worth watching on its own merits. But if you are tuning in specifically for GTA 6, manage your expectations: there is no confirmation, the timing contradicts Take-Two's own words, and Rockstar does not reveal GTA on other companies' stages. The real GTA 6 fireworks are still a few weeks out. For everything Rockstar has actually confirmed, see our GTA 6 master guide.
