GTA 6 Launch Trailer Breakdown: Jason's Army Past, a Call From Lucia, and Justice's New Song With Tame Impala and SZA
Rockstar dropped the GTA 6 Launch Trailer without warning on October 15: 90 seconds set to 'Flower in a Hurricane,' a new Justice single featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar also confirmed Justice composed the game's original score. Here is everything in it, shot by shot, and what it adds to what we know.

Rockstar has released another GTA 6 trailer, and nobody saw it coming. The Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel at 9 a.m. ET on October 15, with no countdown and no teaser, and passed 1.3 million views within its first hour. It runs 90 seconds, ends on November 19, 2026 and a pre-order prompt, and is the first proper trailer since Trailer 2 in May 2025; August's Extended Look was a 27-minute gameplay showcase rather than a trailer.
It also came with real news. The music is "Flower in a Hurricane," a new single from French electronic duo Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Rockstar's announcement names Justice as the composers of GTA 6's original score.
Justice scored GTA 6
This is the headline for music fans. Rockstar's Newswire post introduces Justice as the composers of GTA 6's original score, the music that plays under missions and the open world rather than on the radio. We have found no earlier announcement of that, and Rockstar says more on the music is coming, including an official score album.
For comparison, GTA 5's score came from Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, The Alchemist and Oh No. Handing GTA 6 to one act, and one as recognisable as Justice, is a different approach.
"Flower in a Hurricane" is a standalone Justice single, and Rockstar says it is also on GTA VI: The Album, the soundtrack album with Atlantic Records that releases with the game. The album can be pre-saved on streaming services and pre-ordered on vinyl or CD. Our album guide has the tracks announced so far.
What happens in the trailer
The first 13 seconds carry the only real dialogue. Over shots of the Keys, Jason explains that he got into trouble in the Army, left on bad terms, and can't get a loan from anyone. Then a voice cuts in: "This is a free call from Lucia Caminos." It reads like the message that plays before a call from jail, which fits what we already know: Trailer 1 opened with Lucia in prison, and her official bio says fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Everything after that is music and montage, until a single closing line about just having to get through it.

What's new
Brian's Marina
A marina sign with Brian's name on it fits Rockstar's official bio for Brian Heder, a Keys drug runner from the golden age of smuggling who still moves product through his boat yard. The bio also says Brian lets Jason live rent-free in exchange for help with shakedowns, so seeing Jason working the phone at the marina makes sense.
Jason's motive, in his own words
Jason's Army past is in his official bio, and Rockstar talked about it in LOVE magazine. Here he spells out what it cost him: no clean exit from the Army, and no bank that will lend to him.
The couple, up close
Kotaku identifies the brief shower scene as Jason and Lucia together. It is a very short shot. For what Rockstar has said about nudity and the game's rating, see our age rating explainer.
Captured on PS5
The end card carries a PS5 logo marked "Captured on PS5," and the trailer opens with a PlayStation logo. Rockstar used similar wording for the Extended Look, which it said was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.
Is this Trailer 3?
Not by name. Rockstar calls it the Launch Trailer, not Trailer 3. In practice, though, it is what fans have spent the past year calling Trailer 3: the third trailer, after Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 in May 2025, with the Extended Look counted as a separate showcase. Every date floated for a third trailer this year came and went, and Rockstar released it five weeks before launch with no warning at all.
All four official videos are now on our GTA 6 trailers page.
What's next
GTA 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and preload starts on November 12; our preload guide has the details. Take-Two reports earnings on November 9, the last scheduled checkpoint before launch. Rockstar has also promised more on the game's music, including the Justice score album, so expect that before or around launch day.
