GTA 6's Confirmed Weapons List
Trailer 2's heist sequence confirmed several Grand Theft Auto VI weapons. Here's the running list — Carbine Rifle, Pistol .50, Pump Shotgun, plus what we expect at launch.

GTA 6's weapon catalog is less-confirmed than the vehicle catalog — Rockstar has shown specific weapons in trailer combat sequences but hasn't released a formal weapons list. Below: what's confirmed from Trailer 2's heist sequence and supporting marketing, plus what we expect at launch based on series precedent.
Confirmed pistols
Pistol .50
A heavy-frame semi-auto pistol. Visible in Trailer 2's convenience-store sequence — Jason fires one. Returns from Online with the same model name.
Standard Pistol
Visible in multiple frames; the basic semi-auto sidearm.
Confirmed SMGs
SMG
Generic submachine gun visible in mid-range combat scenes.
Confirmed shotguns
Pump Shotgun
Standard pump-action shotgun. Visible in Trailer 2's heist sequence — Lucia uses one.
Confirmed assault rifles
Carbine Rifle
The standard assault rifle. Visible in multiple Trailer 2 frames.
Automatic Rifle
Higher-rate-of-fire variant; visible in chase sequences.
Confirmed throwables
Smoke Grenade
Explicit Trailer 2 cinematic — Lucia throws one during the convenience-store heist.
Flashbang
Visible in heist setup; standard tactical throwable.
Confirmed melee
Knife (Combat)
Visible in Trailer 2's quieter scenes.
Returning weapons (likely confirmed)
Based on series precedent and 2022 leak material, the following are highly likely at launch:
- Pistol .50 (confirmed)
- AP Pistol (rapid-fire pistol)
- Heavy Pistol
- Combat Pistol
- MG / Machine Gun
- Combat MG / Combat MG Mk II
- Heavy Sniper / Heavy Sniper Mk II
- Marksman Rifle
- Bullpup Shotgun
- Sawed-Off Shotgun
- Heavy Shotgun
- Assault SMG
- Mini SMG
These are series fixtures across V and Online; their absence from GTA 6 would be unusual.
Special / experimental weapons (uncertain)
- Rail Gun — not yet confirmed for GTA 6; was a Doomsday Heist V innovation
- Up-N-Atomizer — not confirmed
- Stun Gun / Tazer
- Microwave gun / Plasma weapons — V/Online experimental weapons; uncertain if they return
What's NOT confirmed
A few categories with no confirmation:
- Specific weapon model names — Rockstar hasn't released a formal list
- Weapon customisation — unclear if the V-era weapon-attachment system returns
- Ammo types — standard / armor-piercing / incendiary / hollow-point variants
- Weapon-specific kill animations
What carried from V's weapon system
GTA V's weapons system was characterised by:
- Weapon wheel for selection (not a flat inventory)
- Per-weapon level-up through use
- Attachment system (suppressor, scope, extended mag, drum)
- Weapon variants (Combat MG, Combat MG Mk II — same weapon, different stats)
Unless Rockstar signals otherwise, expect these to return in GTA 6 with refinement.
What's likely new
Speculation based on the 2022 leak and Trailer 2:
- Improved ballistics — bullet drop simulation, longer-range engagement
- Returning realistic damage — the IV-era physics tone returning, with weapons that have weight and visible recoil
- Tactical reload — animation-driven reload mechanics that affect combat pacing
- Weapon condition — possible RDR2-style maintenance system (uncertain)
What we'll know in pre-launch
Rockstar's pattern of pre-launch trailers will likely add 20-40 more confirmed weapons in Trailer 3 (mid-September 2026). The full launch weapon catalog will be revealed via Newswire posts in October-November 2026.
