The Fastest Cars in GTA San Andreas, Ranked by Top Speed
The fastest cars in GTA San Andreas, ranked by top speed, with exact spawn locations and how nitro and engine upgrades at the mod shops change performance.

The fastest cars in GTA San Andreas are a short, elite list, and the numbers come straight from the game's own handling files. Only two production cars hit the top tier of 240 km/h (149.13 mph), and the rest of the field clusters tightly behind them. Below is a top-speed ranking of every car you asked about, where each one spawns, and how the mod shops actually affect speed.
The fastest cars in GTA San Andreas, by raw top speed
San Andreas stores a theoretical maximum speed for every vehicle. Here is where the ten cars land, fastest first:
- Turismo and Infernus tie at the top: 240.00 km/h (149.13 mph)
- Bullet, Cheetah and Super GT share second tier: 230.00 km/h (142.92 mph)
- Banshee, ZR-350, Elegy, Jester and Comet all sit at: 200.00 km/h (124.27 mph)
The catch: a file value is not the same as on-track performance. Acceleration, grip, weight and how quickly a car reaches that number matter just as much in a race. The Infernus pulls to its top speed within seconds, which is why most players and outlets crown it the fastest car in San Andreas in practice, even though it shares its ceiling with the Turismo. So treat the tiers as the spine of the ranking and the handling notes below as the tiebreakers.
Infernus and Turismo: the 240 km/h tier
The Infernus is the all-around speed king. Based on the Honda NSX (with Cizeta and Corvette cues), it has rapid acceleration and a low, grippy chassis, though it can snap loose if you push it too hard through corners. It spawns in Downtown and Richman in Los Santos, Paradiso in San Fierro, around Bayside Marina, and in the wealthier Las Venturas neighborhoods. It also shows up in Race Tournaments and the Exports and Imports list.
The Turismo matches the Infernus on paper at 149.13 mph and is widely rated second only to it for combined speed and handling. Modeled on the Ferrari F40, it sits inches off the road and clings to it. Find it at night along The Strip and the Old Venturas Strip in Las Venturas, near the Camel's Toe casino, or win one in the Las Venturas Ringroad race tournament. After the second export list, you can import a Turismo from Easter Basin in San Fierro on Mondays.
Bullet, Cheetah and Super GT: the 230 km/h tier
The Bullet is the connoisseur's pick. Modeled on the 2005-2006 Ford GT, it tops out at 142.92 mph and is famous for staying composed at speed where the Infernus can spin out. The cleanest way to get one is the San Fierro Driving School in Doherty: earn silver in every test and a Bullet parks outside. It also spawns in a small alcove near Solarin Industries in Doherty and occasionally on the Las Venturas Strip. You can browse more vehicle entries on the San Andreas game hub.
The Cheetah is the returning Testarossa-inspired icon, also rated 142.92 mph, with balanced, forgiving handling that makes it a great everyday fast car. It spawns in Rodeo and Market in Los Santos, Paradiso in San Fierro, and along the Las Venturas strips.
The Super GT rounds out this tier at 142.92 mph, drawing on early-90s Japanese GT cars (300ZX, Supra, 3000GT). Earn bronze in every Driving School challenge and one spawns in Doherty; you can also find it behind the control tower at Easter Bay Airport and at the Auto Bahn importer near the Royal Casino in Las Venturas.
Banshee, ZR-350, Elegy, Jester and Comet: the 200 km/h tier
These five all share a top speed of 124.27 mph (200 km/h), but they earn their spots through acceleration and cornering rather than outright pace:
- Banshee: the Dodge Viper-style roadster, quick off the line, common in Rodeo, Market and Richman in Los Santos.
- ZR-350: the RX-7-inspired tuner, found in commercial districts across all three cities and at Las Venturas Airport's car park.
- Elegy: the Nissan Skyline R34 lookalike, common on The Strip and in San Fierro's Triad districts like Chinatown.
- Jester: a Supra-flavored coupe that conveniently spawns behind the Wheel Arch Angels garage in Ocean Flats, San Fierro.
- Comet: the Porsche-style convertible, parked around the Avispa Country Club tennis courts in San Fierro and across west Los Santos.
The Elegy and Jester matter most here, because they are two of the six cars you can tune at Wheel Arch Angels.
How nitro, engine upgrades and the mod shops change speed
Here is the rule that trips up most players: in San Andreas, nitro increases acceleration, not top speed. It dumps torque into the car for a few seconds, launching you toward your existing maximum faster, but it does not raise the ceiling. A Bullet with nitro still tops out at 142.92 mph; it just gets there quicker.
Where you can install nitro depends on the car, because San Andreas has three different garages:
- TransFender (Temple in Los Santos, Wang Cars in Doherty, and Come-A-Lot in Las Venturas) handles most ordinary cars. It offers nitro, hydraulics, wheels, stereo and bodywork, and it unlocks after the mission Cesar Vialpando. The Las Venturas branch charges 20% more on everything except paint.
- Wheel Arch Angels (Ocean Flats, San Fierro) is the street-racer shop and the only place to mod the Elegy, Flash, Jester, Stratum, Sultan and Uranus.
- Loco Low Co. (Willowfield, Los Santos) is lowriders only: Blade, Broadway, Remington, Savanna, Slamvan, Tahoma, Tornado and Voodoo.
The top-tier cars on this list (Infernus, Turismo, Bullet, Cheetah, Super GT) cannot be customized at any of the three shops, so their numbers are fixed at the values above. That is why, for pure top speed, you chase the Infernus or Turismo, and for speed plus nitro launches, the Elegy or Jester at Wheel Arch Angels is the move.
