CYBERLEEK Is Back: A 25-Minute GTA 6 Leak Dropped Six Weeks Before Launch. What We Know, and How to Avoid Spoilers
After six weeks of silence, the anonymous group behind August's GTA 6 leaks has released about 25 minutes of new footage in a file called 'Extended Leek', this time with cutscenes and story spoilers. Here is what has been reported, whether it is verified, where Take-Two's hunt for the leaker stands, and how to keep GTA 6 unspoiled until November 19.

CYBERLEEK is back. The anonymous group that leaked GTA 6 gameplay clips in August, then went quiet after cashing out its memecoin, resurfaced on Thursday, October 8, with roughly 25 minutes of new GTA 6 footage. It is far longer than anything it released before, and unlike the August clips, it reportedly includes cutscenes and story spoilers. It lands 42 days before launch.
Here is what has been reported, how much of it is verified, where Rockstar and Take-Two stand, and how to keep the game unspoiled. As with our earlier coverage of the group, we are not describing, hosting or linking any leaked material, and we are not repeating speculation about who is behind it.
What was released
Insider Gaming was among the first to report the release, describing "nearly 25 minutes" of gameplay; VICE, citing the Rockstar dataminer Tex2, puts it at 24 minutes. Dexerto reports it was shared as a ZIP file of about 370MB titled "Extended Leek", and Kotaku says it was put up for download on a file-hosting service that buckled under the demand.
It is the group's first verified release since August 26. Between August 18 and 26, CYBERLEEK posted roughly 15 short clips, then went quiet on August 27, when about $200,000 to $270,000 was withdrawn from its $CYBERLEEK memecoin hours before Rockstar's Extended Look aired. Dexerto reports the group's website posted a poll in early October whose voting closed on October 8, the day of the release.
How this one is different
The August clips were short, about a minute each, and as Kotaku puts it they "rather studiously avoided spoiler footage." This release is the opposite: 25 continuous minutes that Kotaku and Insider Gaming both say include cutscenes and story content. If you have been happily watching leak coverage until now, this is the one to avoid.
The timing is pointed too. It came a day after IGN published its full interview with Rockstar's Rob Nelson, and in the middle of the debate over what IGN actually saw in that shower scene. Several outlets have since used the leak to "confirm" things Rockstar has not. We are sticking to what Rockstar and its press partners have published.
Is it real?
Probably, but it isn't verified yet. Dexerto says the footage's authenticity "has not been independently verified," and that it is unclear whether it comes from the same source as August's clips. Insider Gaming says it is "not clear exactly how the footage was obtained," and that, despite speculation, it does not appear to be the demo shown to the press. VICE adds a caution that it could come from an older build.
What makes it likely to be genuine is the track record. The August clips were treated as real by Rockstar itself, which called the leaks "heartbreaking for our team" in its August 26 statement, and by Take-Two's takedowns and court filings. Expect the same signals this time: takedowns arriving quickly would be the clearest sign.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have done so far
Nothing public about this release yet. Rockstar's only formal statement on the leaks remains the August 26 Instagram post, and Dexerto notes it had not addressed the October 8 footage when it published.
The legal side has been running since August. Take-Two filed DMCA subpoena requests in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York to identify the people behind the leaks: subpoenas to Microsoft, Discord (twice, the second under seal) and X, while a request to Google was withdrawn. In its sealing request, Take-Two called the investigation "rapidly evolving and ongoing." These are civil discovery tools, not lawsuits or criminal charges, and no one has been publicly identified, charged or arrested in connection with CYBERLEEK. Our CYBERLEEK status report has the full court record.
One thing not to confuse this with: on September 28, Dutch police arrested a man in an investigation into ShinyHunters, the hacking group the FBI says was behind a separate breach of Rockstar this April, which exposed GTA Online's revenue figures. GamesIndustry.biz treats that case as separate from CYBERLEEK, and nothing reported so far connects the two.
How to avoid GTA 6 spoilers now
Forty-two days is a long time to stay offline, so here is the short version of our GTA 6 spoiler avoidance guide:
- Mute words on X: "GTA 6 leak", "GTA VI leak", "CYBERLEEK", "Extended Leek", "GTA 6 spoilers" and "#GTA6Leak". Set the mute to everyone, not just accounts you don't follow.
- On YouTube, use "Not interested" and "Don't recommend channel" on the first leak thumbnail you see. The algorithm learns quickly.
- On Reddit, filter the same keywords, and stay out of leak-focused communities until launch.
- Be careful with group chats and Discord servers, which is where most clips spread first.
- Don't download anything. Re-uploads of leaked files are an easy way to spread malware, and there is no playable GTA 6 build to download. See our download scam warning.
Why we aren't showing it
The footage is Rockstar's unreleased work, taken and published without permission, and Take-Two is pursuing it in court. It also contains spoilers for a story many people have waited thirteen years to play. Everything we report about GTA 6 comes from Rockstar and the outlets it has worked with, and that is where the official picture is already big: the Game Informer cover story, LOVE magazine's interview and IGN's full interview all came out in the last ten days.
