GTA Online's 2026 Payout Rebalance: Every Heist Nerf and What Pays Best Now
Title Update 1.73 cut GTA Online heist payouts by 20 to 40 percent, including a big Cayo Perico nerf, and added weekly first-completion bonuses. Here is what changed and how to earn most now.

If your usual GTA Online money route suddenly feels lighter, you are not imagining it. Alongside the Kortz Center Heist on July 14, Rockstar shipped Title Update 1.73 and quietly rewired the economy: payouts on several long-standing heists were cut, and a new weekly first-completion bonus system was added on top. The result is a meta that punishes farming one job and rewards rotating. Here is exactly what changed, and where the money actually is now.
What got nerfed
The cuts are broad. Across affected activities, payout reductions land roughly in the 20 to 40 percent range depending on the job and the target.
The headline nerf is Cayo Perico. The Pink Diamond primary target reportedly dropped from around $1.3 million to $910,000, a cut of nearly 30 percent. For a heist that has been the default solo money printer for years, that is a serious haircut.

The new weekly first-completion bonus
The nerfs do not exist in isolation. Rockstar paired them with a weekly first-completion bonus system designed to push players around the content.
- Official patch notes confirm the bonus applies to a set of activities including the Original Heist, Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid, KnoWay Out, Oscar Guzman Flies Again, The Data Leaks, and The Diamond Casino Heist.
- Rockstar has confirmed a weekly first-completion payout boost across 11 classic heists, including The Pacific Standard Job, The Diamond Casino Heist, and The Doomsday Heist, with the boost reaching as high as 4x.
- The bonus resets every Thursday, in line with the weekly cycle.
- Crucially, repeat completions of the same heist within one week now pay less than your first run.
In other words: the first time you run something each week is worth far more than the second, third, or tenth.
Why Rockstar did it
The logic is not hard to read. For years, a large share of the player base has funnelled into one or two optimal money methods, running the same heist on loop and ignoring most of the game's content. Cutting the ceiling on repeat runs while boosting first runs pushes players to rotate across many activities rather than farm a single one.
It also, conveniently, makes the brand-new Kortz Center Heist look extremely attractive, since its first weekly completion is worth roughly $2 million.
What pays best now
The optimal week under the new economy looks like this:
- Kortz Center Heist, once per week. The first completion after the Thursday reset is the single biggest payday available, at roughly $2.2 million including the weekly challenge.
- Rotate the weekly-bonus heists. Take the first-completion boost on the classics: Pacific Standard, Diamond Casino, Doomsday, Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid, and the rest. Each one is a chunky one-off rather than a grind.
- Cayo Perico for sustained solo income. Even after the nerf, Cayo still leads for repeatable solo earnings at roughly $750,000 per hour, which makes it the fallback once your weekly first-completions are spent.
The pattern is clear: breadth beats depth now. A player who runs six different heists once each will out-earn a player who runs the same heist six times.
What it means for your grind
If your routine was "Cayo, Cayo, Cayo," it needs updating. The new economy rewards a weekly checklist over a single loop. Practically:
- Log in after the Thursday reset and take your high-value first completions early in the week.
- Treat repeat runs as filler, not as your main income.
- Do not sleep on the older heists you skipped for years. With a first-completion boost of up to 4x, jobs that were not worth touching are suddenly competitive.
Our existing money methods guide and grinder playbook were written before this rebalance, so weigh their per-hour figures against the new first-completion structure.
The bottom line
Title Update 1.73 cut GTA Online heist payouts by roughly 20 to 40 percent, hit Cayo Perico's Pink Diamond hardest (about $1.3 million down to $910,000), and replaced the old farm-one-thing meta with weekly first-completion bonuses of up to 4x across 11 classic heists, resetting every Thursday. The money is still there, it is just spread out. Run the Kortz Center Heist once a week, cycle the bonus-boosted classics, and keep Cayo in your back pocket for sustained solo income.
